Anna Frants’ Visionary Dreams #3261-64
Video & Audio Installations in Gallery Halls

Visionary Dreams #3261–64 marks the latest in Anna Frants’ long-standing tradition of pre-New Year exhibitions at Borey Gallery—an annual practice she began in 2006. As in previous editions, Frants presents immersive video and audio installations that merge fantasy with technology. Blending intuition, robotics, and programming, her work explores the intersection of imagination and machine logic.

Anna Frants & Martin Doudoroff
3D Animation | 1995 | Duration: 1.5 minutes

Weather Forecast – WINTER/SUMMER

Anna Frants & Elena Gubanova
Installation | Video, Cotton Wool, Thread | MediaLab Cyland

What were you doing in the winter of 1980? In the summer? What makes a certain winter unforgettable?
Weather Forecast – WINTER/SUMMER is a poetic reflection on the paradox of time—simultaneously slow-moving and fleeting. Through contrasting seasonal memories, the installation evokes nostalgia and questions the passage of time.

Reflection on Life No. 125082

Anna Frants
Robotics & Programming: Alexei Grachev
Installation | MediaLab Cyland
Materials: Metallic Conveyor Belt, 3D Print, Arduino, Hand-knitting
Size: Variable | 2013

Inspired by a satirical “life schedule” by writer Yuz Aleshkovsky, this piece contemplates the rituals of daily existence. Each numbered reflection—from birth onward—mirrors how we perceive and process life as a series of habitual actions.
Is introspection transformative? The work leaves the question open.

Object #3 from the series “Made in Ancient Greece”

Anna Frants & Cyland MediaArtLab
Multimedia Installation | Size: Variable | New York, 2013

In Ancient Greece, clay vessels served both utilitarian and symbolic purposes. In this series, Frants transforms traditional ceramic forms into storytelling devices of the digital age.
Replacing ancient myths with video narratives, the work juxtaposes classical aesthetics with contemporary visual media—questioning cultural continuity, perception, and the role of memory.
