Exhibition of St. Petersburg and New York artists
“Touch me”
OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION (video)
The Anna Akhmatova Museum at the Fountain House features the works of artists from St. Petersburg and New York. According to ABN, the artists’ projects reflect all major trends in contemporary art, including performance and video performance, installation, net art, and more. The exhibition is presented by the organizers as a continuation of the traditions of “touch art,” with most of the works being classic examples of tactile (perceptible by touch) art. Highlights include the warm sculpture “Mothers,” unexpectedly at human body temperature, evoking maternal warmth; Pavlov’s “living” dog; letters that, when touched, convey a deep sense of intimacy; and other similar pieces.
St. Petersburg is represented at the exhibition by the works of Elena Gubanova and Ivan Govorkov, Nadya Zubareva and Philip Dontsov, Vitaly Pushnitsky, Elena Trapeznikova, and Olga and Alexander Florensky. Representing New York are Anna Frants, Al and Jeff Bliumis, Sun J. Park, Bonnie Crawford, Irina Danilova, and Mikhail Epstein.
