“The Rate of Disappearance” Exhibition◆

“The Rate of Disappearance”, photo and video exhibition by Ludmila Belova supported by CYLAND MediaArtLab opened on May 20, 2015 at ART re.Flex gallery in St. Petersburg.

The Speed of Disappearance is a multimedia installation that explores the impact of digital technologies on our perception of reality. Belova examines how physical forms dissolve into the digital stream of images, reflecting on the rapid succession of visuals in modern life. The installation includes video projections with audio accompaniment and photo collages, creating media landscapes—a contemporary interpretation of the traditional landscape genre.

Art critic Stanislav Savitsky notes that the exhibition demonstrates how visual machinery becomes an integral part of reality, sometimes even replacing it. Belova’s works raise questions about the speed of image transmission, changes in communication methods, and the instability of the modern world.

Lyudmila Belova is a Russian artist born in Kamchatka, currently residing and working in Montenegro. She graduated from the Abramtsevo Art School in 1980 and has been a member of the Union of Artists of Russia since 1991. Her works have been featured in numerous solo exhibitions in various galleries and museums, including ART re.FLEX, the National Center for Contemporary Arts, and the Anna Akhmatova Museum in St. Petersburg.
