FRANTS GALLERY SPACE
81 Wooster St, New York, NY 10012 USA
In 2000, the Frants Gallery in New York hosted the presentation of the Internet project “Russki Album”. Its goal was to create a virtual museum of contemporary art in Saint Petersburg from the second half of the 20th century. The “Russki Album” is organized as a catalog, allowing visitors to explore the works of artists who represent various trends in the development of Saint Petersburg art from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.
“The “Russian Album” catalog is an imaginative attempt to use the possibilities of virtual space to unite the works of artists who, in real life, often held irreconcilable positions. It aims to present a unique and cohesive palette of the city’s art. The creation of a virtual museum reflects the desire to showcase Saint Petersburg’s contemporary art and make it universally accessible to audiences around the world.
