🔹Night of Contemporary Art🔹
On June 29, a large-scale public art project titled Luzhaika will open at “New Holland” island, organized by the Association of Institutions of Contemporary Art (AIAI), and will continue across all participating galleries as part of the “Night of Contemporary Art.”
Luzhaika. Artists engage with the island’s space, creating site-specific works especially for New Holland. At the same time, a kind of dialogue emerges between the artworks themselves. The main themes explored by the artists include the relationship between art and ecology — Andrey Rudyev, Anatoly Belkin, Ilya Gaponov; art and social space — Timofey Radya; and art for art’s sake — Sasha Frolova, Vladimir Seleznev. The Luzhaika project is an important initiative for integrating art into urban spaces, aiming to highlight the significance and necessity of public art in a city environment.
On the same evening, members of thewill simultaneously launch their own exhibition projects across various venues.
AIAI was founded in St. Petersburg in 2010. Today, it includes 13 members: AL Gallery, Anna Nova Art Gallery, ART re.FLEX Gallery, Cyland Media Art Lab, Dmitriy Semenov Gallery, Frants Gallery Space, Lazarev Gallery, Marina Gisich Gallery, Modernariat, Namegallery, Rizzordi Art Foundation, Studio “Kitchen,” and the creative collective PARAZIT.
As the city currently lacks its own art fair, the format of synchronized exhibition openings on one date is a significant step toward creating one. The organizers sincerely hope to transform St. Petersburg during these days into a hub for all lovers, collectors, and experts of contemporary art.
Participating artists: Anatoly Belkin, Ilya Gaponov, Pavel Ivanov, Ivan Plyushch, Andrey Rudyev, Vladimir Seleznev, Sasha Frolova.
