The First Krasnoyarsk International Media Art Festival

 

The First Krasnoyarsk International Media Art Festival will take place at the House of Cinema, showcasing the diversity of forms and directions in new technology art, as well as the experience of international and Russian media festivals.

The festival will be of interest to both professionals working in the field of media art and emerging artists.

During the festival, the House of Cinema will host demonstrations of panoramic video installations, augmented reality, and interactive art installations by members of the Houston St. art group from Moscow.

The lecture, presentation, and masterclass program will feature well-known international and Russian experts, including:

  • Stephen Kovats – media researcher and artistic director of Transmediale (Berlin) from 2008 to 2011
  • Kent Long – video and audio artist, instructor at the San Francisco Art Institute
  • Olga Shishko – director of the MediaArtLab Center for Culture and Art (Moscow)
  • Tatyana Liberman – curator at the Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia (Moscow)
  • Sergey Teterin – media artist (Perm)

The festival’s evening program will present:

  • The best competition works from the Media Forum of the Moscow International Film Festival, selected from the MediaArtLab collection
  • Highlights from the International Festival of Contemporary Animation and Media Art LINOLIUM (Moscow)
  • Creative experiments by renowned Tuvan singer Sainkho Namtchylak and Krasnoyarsk artist Alexander Krasnov
  • Kent Long’s improvisations with Krasnoyarsk musicians
  • Screenings of the video art program Myths and Media, with commentary by Kirill Preobrazhensky, head of the Video and Media Art workshop at the Rodchenko School of Photography and Multimedia (Moscow).

The festival opening will take place on December 15 at 5:30 PM.

The festival is organized by MAU “House of Cinema” and is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Region and the Main Directorate of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk City Administration.
