◆The 3rd International Gyumri Art Week City&Beyond◆
Gyumri Art Week is an annual festival for contemporary art in Armenia. It is designed to stimulate artistic research and experimentation in the region and provoke debates on actual cultural and societal processes.
For its 3rd edition, Gyumri Art Week is revisiting the area where it stages its festival, focusing on the city as an ever-changing living organism. In this year’s program, visitors will encounter a range of stories from artists and collectives reflecting on urbanism, sustainability, community, and connectivity. These stories ask fundamental questions about naming words, architectural plans and styles, public monuments, natural landscapes, social structures, cultural paradigms, and modern cities’ ecosystems.
The 3rd edition of Gyumri Art Week pays tribute to Yervand Kochar (1899-1979), an avant-garde painter, experimenter, inventor of a new type of artistic and plastic expression, a remarkable figure of Armenian Modernism and Cubism.
