GOGOLFest is a unique, non-commercial international festival of contemporary art. In 2010, it was held at the Dovzhenko Film Studio, opening this venue to the public for the first time. The film studio, built in 1927, spans an area of over 175,000 square meters.
The Visual Art Program (VAP) of GOGOLFest 2010 featured installations, performances, video art, painting, sculpture, photography, a children’s studio, lectures, and masterclasses, all integrated into the landscape of the film studio. Temporarily transformed into a unique cultural space, the festival venue attracted over 20,000 visitors, providing them with an immersive experience of contemporary art. Each guest of GOGOLFest 2010 had the opportunity to engage with the festival’s environment and undergo a unique artistic journey.
Among the participants were the Spanish theatre La Fura Dels Baus, Italy’s Kataklo theatre of athletic dance, the Huun Huur Tu musical group from Russia’s Tuva region, engineers from Lithuania’s Cyland Laboratory, Switzerland’s Plasma Theatre and others, concert of such a musicians as TRICKY, Onra, TheGo!Team etc.
The festival’s spatial architect and curator of the VAP program was Katya Bochavar. For this work, she was awarded the Sergey Kuryokhin Prize in the category “Best Curatorial Project.”
The founder and producer of the festival is Vlad Troitsky.
