◆From Leningrad to St. Petersburg: 25 Years of Art◆

Exhibition “From Leningrad to St. Petersburg: 25 Years of Art” was organized in honor of the 300th anniversary of the founding of Saint Petersburg and showcased works by artists from Saint Petersburg, reflecting the development of the city’s art over the past 25 years.

Curator: Natalia Kolodzei

Among the artists presented:

* Alexey Kiriyanov * Vladimir Nemukhin * Gleb Bogomolov * Mikhail Turovsky * Vladimir Shinkarev * Olga Suvorova * Igor Tulipanov * Yan Antonyshev * Vladimir Kozevnikov * Nikolay Reznichenko * Evgeny Shcherban * Oleg Tenyaev *

These artists presented a variety of works, including painting, graphic art, photography, and video art, reflecting the dynamics of the artistic process in Saint Petersburg during the post-Soviet period.

Concept of the exhibition:

The exhibition aimed to show the evolution of art in Saint Petersburg, starting from the late Soviet period to the early 2000s. The artists’ works illustrated the transition from official Socialist Realism to more free and experimental forms of self-expression characteristic of the post-Soviet era.

Additional information:

The exhibition also included an event called “Introductions”, a meeting with the artists held on December 13, 2003, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. During this meeting, curator Natalia Kolodzei presented an overview of new media art from Saint Petersburg and the works of Anna Frants displayed at the exhibition in honor of the city’s anniversary.
