◆Anna Frants’ Performance “Dollhouse”◆
St. Petersburg’s LYUDA Gallery announces the artist project DOLLHOUSE by Anna Frants, which will be presented for one day only — on October 2, 2015 — in the gallery space and will involve the participation of children.
The installation by Anna Frants is designed to take shape through the direct involvement of children in the creative process. Especially for them, the artist will create an environment for a performance: children will be invited to bring to life a miniature neighborhood of new apartment blocks built from old refrigerators, using furniture from dollhouses.
This performance — created especially for children and by children — presents a visualized image of a person filling their private space based on their own sense of beauty. Modern apartment blocks around the world often resemble one another; they tend to lose their individuality and geographic character, becoming purely functional.
But things change when these oversized dollhouses begin to be filled with people — living individuals, each with their own idea of beauty and the ability to bring it home, into their room, apartment, stairwell, or bathroom. They decorate these spaces with furniture, glasses, cutlery, and other items — objects that their children will later cherish and pass down from generation to generation, carefully arranged around the fireplace (nowadays, the television).
