The exhibition is dedicated to self-portraiture in Russian art was opened.

The relevance of this genre continues to grow with each new generation. A self-portrait is a mirror that reflects not only the inner world of the artist but also their vision of the creator’s mission and the significance of art in the lives of contemporaries.

The exhibition presents over 200 works from the collection of the Russian Museum – the finest examples of a genre explored by leading figures of Russian art. It is a unique opportunity to reconstruct a consistent and captivating history of the Russian self-portrait in painting, drawing, and sculpture from the early 18th century to the present day. Alongside renowned masterpieces, the exhibition also features significant and striking works by lesser-known painters, graphic artists, and sculptors whose art vividly reflects the multifaceted spirit of their time.
