◆”What We Hear When We Look” Manifesta 10 Biennial, Parallel Program◆

The exhibition presented at the Cadet Corps as part of the parallel “Manifesta” program was organized by the Moscow-based Foundation for the Support of Art Projects “Open Gallery,” curated by Natasha Tamruchi.

Music and visual art are two universal languages without borders—they are understood without translation anywhere in the world. This unifying quality raises a natural question: can these languages understand each other and communicate just as well as, say, Russian can with Ukrainian, or Portuguese with Spanish? Can an image “resonate in the mind” the way sound does, and can sound “develop” on the surface of the visual field like a photograph appearing on photo paper?
