◆”Latest Discoveries” – a special project of the IV Moscow International Biennale for Young Art, curated by Vladimir Logutov◆
Vladimir Logutov, the artist and curator of the exhibition, comments:
“I would like the viewer, upon arriving at this exhibition, at first not to recognize art as they know it today. And later, as they get involved in this game, to see the ‘artistic,’ to discover a series of sensational discoveries.”
At “Latest Discoveries,” works will be presented by participants of the “Young Artist School” program (a joint project of the Northwest Branch of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts and the Pro Arte Foundation), among whom are graduates and students of traditional art schools, established young artists, and people who came to art from related professions.
“Their works are living art, still in flux, experimental. This is art created with a different aesthetic logic, yet it captures interest through its unexpected visuality.”
One of the works is interactive sound art installation by Alexey Grachev, “Meteorological Station-1.”
This portable atmospheric-sound converter, created by the artist in the spirit of Soviet aesthetics, monitors changes in the atmosphere using sensors that respond to temperature, atmospheric pressure, light, and humidity. The collected data is transformed in real time into a generative melody through simple relationships and algorithms.
