The WYE, Transmediale Parallel Program, Presents CyLand’s “Time Keeper”
Time Keeper: A New Media Exhibit Parallel to Transmediale
The Time Keeper exhibit has traveled to major cultural hubs worldwide, including The Hermitage Museum (St. Petersburg), IMAL (Brussels), and The Empire Project (Istanbul), among others. At each stop, audiences are invited to explore the abstract concept of Time—a theme that has sparked cross-cultural dialogue for centuries. Whether contemplating the limits of a finite lifespan, the selection of historically significant moments, the nature of change, or the paradox of capturing the past in the present, this visual exposition examines our contemporary perceptions of time.
Each iteration of Time Keeper is uniquely curated to reflect its surroundings, featuring site-specific and interactive installations by international and local artists. For Berlin’s edition, curator Leah Stuhltrager has selected works by:
-
Anna Frants (St. Petersburg)
-
Elena Gubanova & Ivan Govorkov (St. Petersburg)
-
rreeaallllyy (Berlin)
-
Katrina Neumann (WYE Artist in Residence)
-
Selected letters from the Time Keeper project

Coinciding with the Time Keeper opening on January 29 (7-10 PM), The WYE will debut a public installation by Christine Gedeon titled Divergent Walks; Gridded Cities on the first floor. Based on the artist’s 30-day walks through New York City and Berlin, this installation will remain on view throughout the winter.
