🗓️December 20, 2012—11 March, 2013
MARBLE PALACE, STATE RUSSIA MUSEUM
📍5/1, Millionnaya St, St. Petersburg 191186 Russia
The exhibition explores the intersection of color and sound, optics and acoustics, music and visual arts. Developed in collaboration with various museum collections and musicians from Moscow and St. Petersburg, the project continues the experimental legacy of the Russian Avant-Garde while integrating contemporary approaches to sound visualization.
The display features unconventional musical instruments and multimedia performances that have taken place across multiple Russian cities over the past few years. Compared to these previous projects, the exhibition at the Russian Museum stands out for its larger number of participants and a broader range of artistic works. Alongside multimedia objects, visitors will find traditional art forms such as painting, graphics, collage, and sculpture.
The exhibition also presents innovative explorations in color-music experiments, visual-acoustic objects, resonant sculptures, and interpretations of musical compositions. For the first time, projects based on the transformation of sound impulses into images and motion into sound will be showcased, alongside video performances and interactive “sounding” costumes.
